Day 21: Abyssal Sea Horses

For the past three weeks, I have been attempting to model a scene each day. The goal is to create some more unique pieces to spice up the portfolio. The thing is when you have been working 10-day shifts in the field the first couple of days off can be an adjustment and the motivation is sometimes hard to grasp.

Today was a day I didn’t actually think I would get anything done. Luckily I had set an alarm and was able to put myself in the zone after only a small walk down the road with Nyx. Something about the fresh air and the pure joy that Nyx experiences by chasing birds through the oat fields always inspires me to create.

Today this scene began with a small sketch which then transformed into this deep sea vibe. Love watching a simple doodle turn into something colorful and fun.

The original sketch that inspired the Abyssal Seahorse piece. It is very fun to watch these come to life in a 3D scene!

The music was then cranked and I got to work. Tried some new lighting techniques, added bubble streams, and created some coral chunks which when brought together created some really cool shadow effects.

Excited to see where this underwater stream of art takes me next! Stay tuned for the next installment in the 100-day ecolion challenge!
